Monday Jan. 23

Warm Up: America the story of US video clip on the creation of the automobile and the assembly line.

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion Red Scare, Mass Culture, Harlem RenaissancePrimary Documents Discussion. As a class, we will read and discuss a few works by Langston Hughes.

Closing Summarizer: 1920's Magazine Cover. Students will make a magazine cover that would be seen in the 20's.

Magazine article that discusses an issue from the 20's.

Tuesday Jan. 24

Instructional Plan: Standards 15 and 16 Taboo. Class will be divided into two teams. One member will have to give clues to their team without saying the buzz words on the card.

Closing Summarizer: America the story of Us introduction to Great Depression if time permits.

Thursday Jan 26

Warm Up: America the Story of US Great Depression video

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion Great Depression
Great Depression Photography. Students will use the class pad to highlight major aspects of the pictures.
Testing vocabulary starting with A. Students will be given a list of test taking vocabulary. We will discuss and define the list.

Closing Summarizer: Ticket out the door. Choose two of the words from the vocabulary and write a sentence about the Great Depression with each.

Warm Up: Video on the history of the Taj Mahal

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion Standard 12
Choose 1- Write a poem, draw a picture, or make flashcards for Standard 12
Testing vocabulary starting with A. Students will be given a list of test taking vocabulary. We will discuss and define the list.

Closing Summarizer: Ticket out the door. Choose two of the words from the vocabulary and write a sentence about Standard 12 with it.

Instructional Plan: Illustration. I will stand up on a chair and drop an object. We will have a brief discussion of gravity.
Reporter/Scientist Interviews (Role-Play) - Students will be put into groups of three and will create a dialogue in the form of an interview with one student taking on the role of a famous scientist from the Scientific Revolution and the other student taking on the role of the reporter. The students will perform their interview for the class.
Graphic organizer - Scientific Revolution (class will complete this together after each presentation)

Warm Up: : Discussion of social contract. Class will make a contract where students give something to the teacher and the teacher will give them back something. Ex. All a's on next test and we will have a movie day.

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion Enlightenment
Enlightenment Foldable. Students will write down information on key figures in the Enlightenment and choose from various quotes.
