Daily Assignments for US and World History for the week of Jan 17 - Jan 20

US History

Tuesday Jan. 17th
Warm Up: Activating questions based on mock draft. Students will be given a number as they walk in. Once class begins I will call out numbers and we will see who would be forced to go off to war. We will discuss the questions afterwords.

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion of WWI warfare and how it affected American Society (Standard 15)Two videos reviewing WWI and illustrating trench warfare.

Closing Summarizer: Ticket out of the door. 5 most important things from WWI. Students will write this down and turn it in.

Wednesday Jan. 18th

Warm Up: Group Chronology of WWI events. Students will be given a list of events and the first team to get them all in the correct order wins a prize. Students will be grouped heterogeneously based on grade in the class.

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion on 14 Points and League of Nations
Video transitioning to Roaring TwentiesIntroduction to 18th Amendment
Video on Prohibition and American Gangsters

Closing Summarizer: Word Splash. Students will use a group of related words to create one coherent sentence.

Friday Jan 20

Warm Up: Group Chronology of WWI events. Students will be given a list of events and the first team to get them all in the correct order wins a prize. Students will be grouped heterogeneously based on grade in the class.

Warm Up: Map review. We will review the 7 continents and 4 oceans. Students will take a short quiz at the end.

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion/Introduction to the Age of exploration. Graphic Organizer provided.
Age of Exploration Think Tac Toe. Students will choose three activities to make a tic tac toe. Activities include RAFT writing, Graphic organizer, rap/song, recruitment flyer, etc.

Closing Summarizer: Ticket out of the door. Each student will write down the most important thing they learned about the Age of Exploration.

Wednesday Jan 18th

Warm Up: Brain Pop on Conquistadors

Instructional Plan: Lecture/Discussion on Conquistadors and excerpts from Native American Accounts
Finish Exploration Choices

Closing Summarizer: Parking Lot on Age of Exploration
